Andreas Schönenberger

Obtained a diploma in physics, for which he was awarded the prestigious Pólya prize, and a doctorate degree in theoretical physics from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH), Zurich, Switzerland. He attended the Landau Institute for Theoretical Physics of the Russian Academy of Sciences in Chernogolovka, Russia. He also holds an MBA from London Business School. Dr. Schönenberger taught mathematics and physics and was a Research Assistant at the ETH. For one year he worked in a multifunctional research team at Asea Brown Boveri, Switzerland. He also had part time assignments at Allusuisse-Lonza, Switzerland, and Solvay Polymers, Houston, Texas. In 1998 Dr. Schönenberger joined the Boston Consulting Group. From 2003 to 2006 he was a Vice President/Partner of Monitor Group Switzerland. In 2006 he joined Google as Country Manager for Switzerland and head of its Zurich office. He left Google in 2010 to take up a position as Verwaltungsrat (Member of the Board of Directors) of PubliGroupe SA and to join ERMGASSEN & Co as its “Partner” in charge of all its advisory business involving New Media, IT and digital technologies. In early 2012 he took up a full time executive position at PubliGroupe SA and consequently reduced his role at ERMGASSEN & Co to “Senior Advisor” and Swiss representative. Dr. Schönenberger is President of smama, the Swiss mobile association. Until he became Chief Executive of the Swiss mobile phone operator Salt Mobile SA, he was also a board member of the internet start-up Boxalino AG and of the marketing network company Zanox AG. Dr. Schönenberger resides in Zurich.
